LSO and Art: A Cultural Experience

If you are in the Detroit Area, or will be June 20-September 7,2014. Then you definitely want to check out  Bruce Weber's exhibition at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Bruce Weber is a celebrated fashion photographer and filmmaker who captures the rich culture of Detroit through striking images. The Detroit Institute of Arts has teamed up with Conde Nast to present the exhibition that will display 80 photographs of Weber's work.

People of Detroit

Bruce Weber has worked with many famed designers, models, and celebrities in the industry. In 2006 Weber visited Detroit for the first time while working on an assignment for W magazine. At the time, he came to Detroit to photograph super model Kate Moss. The goal was to capture unfamiliar places, culture, and people. During Weber's visit he feel in love with the scenery and people of Detroit. Last year Bruce came back to Detroit to partner with Detroit based company Shinola. Instead of using super models, Weber looked for local citizens and scenery to capture the true essence of the Motor City. At a time when Detroit only seems to make national news when something negative is being discussed. Its definitely refreshing to have a famed photographer capture the heart of the city; instead of highlighting the vulnerability of Detroit.

LSO will definitely be checking out this out. The exhibition is open to everyone and is free with museum admission.
